I’m a Band student teacher & have meeting scheduled with principal regarding job expectations..etc HELP?
Hi, I am a music education major and am currently student teaching. For part of my assignment, I am supposed to meet with the High School principal regarding job expectations and hiring criteria. Does anyone have any good ideas for questions I could ask at the meeting or any suggestions for things I should be considering when becoming a music teacher and dealing with administration? Thanks
Ask the principal what he/she would like to see from the band program.
Would he/she like to see the band program expanded/kept the same/reduced?
Do you think you might want your class to perform off-site? If so, ask the principal how the administration feels about the band taking trips to doing this?
Would your band enter any type of competition? If so, I’d come prepared with the names and locations of the competitions and ask him how he/she feels about the school competing.
Ask him/her how much money is allotted to the band for uniforms and other expendables.
